PaulCalled and claimed they are the IRS and told me I owed them money and "not to play games with them." Claimed to be an "officer" when I called back. I tried to keep them on the line and waste as much of their time as possible but made the mistake of laughing a little bit and they hung up. Called them back (acting very concerned) and managed to waste some more of their time. Feel free to waste as much of their time as possible. They'll have your name and number and that's about it. Feel free to give them as much fake information as possible and keep them on the line as long as possible to waste their time and prevent them from being successful in any way. Scum of the Earth.
Shaywas just called 10 mins ago, they left a voice message telling me that there was a fraud and misconduct on my tax LMFAOOO they're getting wild with this scam stuff. That should definitely be illegal to leave a message like that scaring me. anyway...if you receive a voicemail like this or call like this R E L A X. Its just some scammers at work... Whats even more hilarious is that they used a Washington DC area code number to make it look real hahahaaa THEY'RE WILD AF FOR THIS ONE.
Got a call today and Arabian accented man say I had tax fraud and I had to pay him now as soon as I asked about the going back to court aspect of hi story he hung up now they hang up after one ring except I got ahold of some western Texas sounding guy who as soon as I munched I talked to some one else he hung up.
IRS scammers!! I called them today and they stated that I was being investigated for criminal activities and for tax fraud. However when I asked them to speak to my lawyer instead, they said they didn't speak to lawyers and immediately hung up.
Definitely a scam so don't call back and be careful. IRS contacts you by mail not by phone!!
SoniaThey left a voicemail with a computerized voice on my phone today stating I am being investigated for criminal fraud activity. I hope everyone they call is smart enough to Google this phone number to see there are several websites dedicated to their fraud activity. Let's spread the word!
202-580-8292 is a complete fraud. I received a missed call and a voice mail from this number on 1/10/17 stating that "in August...there was a fraud in misconduct on your tax which you are hiding from the federal government". Ridiculous! I would NEVER hide anything from the IRS because I have no intention of going to jail. I pay a proper tax accountant to prepare my returns. Secondly I didn't get my act together in time for the April deadline so I filed an extension to submit in October, which I did. So they certainly didn't find an error in August. Not to mention that the sentence isn't even proper - it would be "on your tax return" not "on your tax". The IRS.gov website warns about phone scams. Check it out. Be careful!!
What a fricking joke these people are in India with a heavy accent claiming criminal investigation/warrant for your arrest. I cracked up loud and the indian guy hung up on me. First of all the IRS never makes these kinds of phone calls. They will mail out letters and never threaten you that way. Second they don't have crazy accents that way and the call was a little distorted. Please don't send these idiots any money its a frickn joke. The IRS would never make those phone calls and leave those robotic voice mails. never ever ever.
