Service Canada agents do call sometimes, ex. if there is a conflict on the claim. They will ask a question such as what's mother maiden name for example. Do not give them you access pin not even two digits and never give me your social insurance not even address. You call the real service Canada toll free number and also report this to the Canadian anti fraud center or local police. call the CRA if you've been compromised. They normally will say something about your claim information such as when you applied, reason for loss of job, I don't know how they get this but be very careful. I hope this helps, sorry for the delayed reply.

I received a call from this number 18552492290 and ask me to call this number 2899821685 to talk to someone regarding my EI. I called and it is a cell phone. They asked me to leave my social insurance number in a recorded message and they said they call back. I didn't leave my info. Is this legitimate? Please reply.

messages from this number, a person named Jay claimed he was with Service Canada, messages he left"you have 24 hours to call" and the third was "his is my last call" I went to a service Canada location and was told very clearly by two workers there that this is a scam. Don't take my word for it, either go on the service Canada website and get a local number, go to a service Canada location or call 1-800-206-7218. There seems to be a network of individuals involved in this scam nd it is I admit very well done. They normally leave the toll free, you be given a secondary number to enter and this is the one you will see on the caller display, mine was-604-691-2623. The messages normally ends with you have 24 hours to call or this is my last call as a means to panic and call them quickly instead of looking into this which they don't want you to do. In most cases, I've been told they are looking for personal information, more often then not your social insurance. My advise, call a legitimate service Canada number or go to center and ask for yourself if you are unsure what to think here. You don't need to take anyone's word for it online but please for your own well look into it yourself if you need to before calling these individuals back. On line you'll see some individuals stating the toll free is legitimate, others saying it is not, some saying they call it was service Canada with an explanation of what the call was about for them, mat leave, EI examples, others say they are service Canada agents and it is legitimate. Very well done scam I have to admit, but please do not take any ones word for it, call service Canada for yourself if you are not certain of the validity but do this for yourself before you call them back. Everyone please be careful and all the best.

1-855-249-2290 is the toll free number used by Government of Canada employees to allow members of the public to call them without paying long distance charges. You'll typically be given a 10 digit extension with the phone number, which is the originating officer's direct line. If you're ever unsure about the veracity of one of these calls, call the originating agency's central call centre and verify that the call is genuine.

Legitimate Service Canada 1-800 number callerID spoofed, these scammers need you to answer, press one or whatever to speak to an agent. Calling back will get the real agency, so no scam unless you do the press one to speak to an agent when you get the call.

CRA and Service Canada are two different branches of government that really dont have anything to do with each other. Service Canada provides various services such as EI, CPP/OAS, TFW program and many other things. So calling CRA to verify a call from Service Canada wont really do anything.

1-855-249-2290 is linked to the ESDC/Service Canada/Labour Canada national auto-attendant. This enables users on the corporate phone system (GENS) to be reached directly by outside callers at no cost by dialing the toll-free number, making the language selection and entering the 10 digit extension of the person they are trying to reach (this extension is in fact the person's local phone number).
